We understand that loss is a difficult thing to come to terms with. Our bereavement support group aims to provide monthly informal get-togethers for anyone who has been bereaved at any time. A friendly environment will encourage self-help and mutual support. Speakers are engaged to talk on subjects aimed to help in the inevitable life adjustments.
The group is run by Caroline, Margaret and Barbara with other helpers when available.
Caroline Nicholson, completed a Diploma in Counselling following a degree in Psychology. Further specialised counselling training with Cruse Bereavement Care gave her many hours of counselling experience with all types of loss.
Margaret Turner spent the last 15 years of her nursing as a Macmillan nurse where much of her time was spent with bereaved families. Counselling families before and after a death was very much part of her role, and she feels she would like to use this as part of her support for the church.
Barbara Ivall has previous experience in bereavement care from the Joseph Weld Hospice in Dorchester, and before retirement was a Nursing Sister in private care for the elderly.
